New Discussion Vetting Applicants Through Social Media

An article has suggested that employers who use social media sites like facebook and twitter for information about potential employees could be at risk of a legal action, that is not my view. Employers can obtain information in the public domain and use that when deciding whether or not to offer employment, provided that that is not discriminatory ( i.e. checking the gender of someone and then deciding not to offer employment because she is a woman). Uninformed commentary like this can be damaging.
