Our guest speaker is Sheriff Principal Taylor, who started his
legal career in 1977 becoming a solicitor advocate in 1993.
He was appointed a Sheriff at Edinburgh, in 1998, but was
transferred to Glasgow when the Commercial Court opened there in
1998. Serving as the designated commercial sheriff he was
then appointed to Sheriff Principal of Glasgow and Strathkelvin in
2005. He has now retired from the bench and having been a
member of the Scottish Civil Court Review, which reported in 2009,
he has now been appointed to lead the inquiry into costs and
funding of litigation in Scotland
