Introduction

Following the appointment of Michael Jones QC as senior partner and head of the firm's Dispute Resolution Department, Simpson & Marwick's dedicated Advocacy Unit was established in February 2009.

That development was a natural one for a firm that has been at the forefront of dispute resolution in Scotland for well over a century. When rights of audience in the Supreme Courts were extended to appropriately qualified solicitors in 1993, two of our partners, Peter Anderson and Paul Wade, were among the first practitioners to gain that qualification.
