Robert specialises in insurance based litigation, health &
safety prosecutions and a wide range of litigation in connection
with the oil and gas industry. Robert is a Solicitor Advocate
with extended rights of audience in the Supreme Courts. Robert also
has a commercial litigation practice and advises on data protection
and freedom of information. Having practised in Aberdeen for over
30 years, he applies his formidable expertise to the benefit of his
clients, including advising insurers in relation to major accidents
and catrastrophic claims and providing advice to local authorities
and insurers in respect of policy issues.
Robert joined Simpson & Marwick to establish the Aberdeen
office and to develop the firm's business in the North East. The
Aberdeen practice now employs over 30 staff and continues to go
from strength to strength under his leadership.

Qualified 1975, joined Simpson & Marwick 1992, Partner from
1992.

Solicitor Advocate. A member of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers
(FOIL), the Society of Advocates (Aberdeen), the Health &
Safety Lawyers' Association and The Law Society of Scotland.
Formerly a temporary Sheriff and a part-time tutor at the
University of Aberdeen.
Recent notable work includes:
Robb v Salamis (M&I) Limited (2006). Robert
acted in this House of Lords case which concerned the application
of the Provision & Use of Work Equipment Regulations to
offshore installations
