We have a successful and long-standing relationship with many of
Scotland's local authorities and public bodies. We represent a
number of local government clients directly in respect of
employer's and public liability claims, as well as through insurer
clients. We also act as Edinburgh agents for various authorities,
handling their Court of Session litigation. Our public sector
clients include the police and the fire and ambulance services.
Achieving a high standard.
We act as legal advisers to the Chief Investigating Officer of
the Standards Commission of Scotland. In this capacity, we have
assisted with drafting and reviewing the ethical codes of conduct
applying to various public bodies, and with investigations and
disciplinary matters arising following complaints that these have
been breached. This appointment has provided an invaluable insight
into the challenges faced by our public sector clients.
Helping the police with their inquiries.
Our work with police clients includes defending employer's
liability claims arising from on-duty accidents and representation
at police appeal tribunals, where members of the force appeal the
findings of internal disciplinary proceedings. We also act to
assist our police clients at public inquiries.
