Our experience in aviation litigation is unrivalled in Scotland.
As industry leaders in this sector, we offer our specialist
services to airports, airlines, aerospace manufacturers and
suppliers to the industry.
Our past caseload reads as a list of Scottish air
disasters.
A dispropriately high number of aircraft accidents have occurred
in Scotland in the last 30 years, primarily as a result of the
North Sea oil industry. We have acted in the vast majority of the
actions arising from these and our experience is therefore
extensive. Our past caseload includes:
- the Lockerbie bombing, where we acted for Pam-Am in all civil
litigation arising
- the Fatal Accident Inquiry following the loss of the RAF
Chinnock helicopter off the Mull of Kintyre in 1994, for our
clients Boeing Helicopters
- acting for the Civil Aviation Authority in connection with
Colin Macrae's fatal helicopter crash in 2007
- the Fatal Accident Inquiry following the Cormorant Alpha
helicopter crash in 1992 where we represented the Civil Aviation
Authority
- the fatal Super Puma helicopter crash of 2009, where we
represent the employers of the two pilots who died.
Our Approach
Aviation work is low volume and specialist. Our skills are
therefore vested in our expert Partners who consider the
complexities of an aviation claim, before delegating and
supervising the more routine personal injury and investigative work
to able staff. We have also developed an innovative rapid response
service to assist clients investigate ground claims following an
air disaster. This service is swift and compassionate, heeding
media relations and reputation damage, whilst applying careful
scrutiny to what can be large volumes of fraudulent claims.
