Shaun qualified as a solicitor in 1988. He was assumed
Partner with Simpson & Marwick in 2004, following the firm's
merger with another well known Aberdeen firm. Shaun
specialises in Family Law and is accredited by the Law Society of
Scotland. He is also an Accredited Family Law Mediator. He heads
the firm's Family Law Team and is available to see clients in all
our Scottish offices. Shaun has particular expertise in complex
financial cases.

Richard Smith

Richard qualified as a solicitor in 1998. He joined the
Family Law Team at Simpson & Marwick in 2007 and is the partner
in charge of the Edinburgh members of the team. Richard is
accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a Specialist in Family
Law and is qualified to practice Collaborative Family Law. He has
extensive experience in all areas of family law, particularly in
relation to resolving complex financial matters between spouses and
in the field of child law.

Lisa Girdwood

Qualifying in 1990 and previously Head of Family Law and
Litigation at Bonar Mackenzie, Lisa joined Simpson & Marwick in
December 2011. Lisa, a trained collaborative lawyer,
specialises in divorce, separation, child law and international
child abduction. She also has extensive experience in relocation
matters, financial provision, mediation and representing the
interests of children as curator ad litem. Lisa also
represents incapable adults in her role as court appointed
safeguarder.

Donna McKay

Donna qualified in 2002 and gained experience in other Aberdeen
firms before joining Simpson & Marwick in 2005. She
was promoted to Associate in 2010. Donna is trained in
Collaborative Family Law and resolves the majority of her cases
outwith court, but also appears regularly in Courts all over
Scotland. She deals with a wide variety of Family Law matters
including financial cases but has particular expertise in cases
involving children.

Lydia McLachlan

Lydia joined Simpson & Marwick in 2005 and was promoted to
Senior Solicitor in 2010. She worked with Grampian Police for over
five years after graduating from the University of Aberdeen with
Honours. Like the rest of the Family Law Team, she aims to resolve
the majority of her cases by negotiation, and is trained in
collaborative family law. Lydia is also an experienced
litigator. She deals with a wide variety of Family Law matters
including child contact disputes but has a particular interest in
complex financial provision cases. Lydia also works closely with
colleagues in the Private Client department and regularly assists
in the preparation of Wills and Powers of Attorney.

Sophie Jones

Sophie trained with Simpson and Marwick prior to joining the Family
Law Team in 2010. Sophie completed her Law degree at Edinburgh
University in 2007, and also has an Honours degree in Psychology
from the University of Liverpool. Sophie deals with a variety of
Family Law matters, and assists Richard on some of his more complex
cases.

Susie graduated from Aberdeen University in 2006 with an MA in
English and Linguistics before deciding to embark upon a legal
career. She completed her Law degree at Edinburgh University
in 2008 and completed her traineeship with Simpson &
Marwick in 2011, having trained entirely within the field of Family
Law. Susie is now an Assistant Solicitor. She appears
regularly in court. She assists Shaun with his caseload
gaining exposure to complex financial cases and continues to
increase her own caseload.

A graduate of Aberdeen University Jenni has worked for a number
of firms in Aberdeen over the past 30 years. She joined
the firm in 2007 and is PA/Paralegal for Shaun George, Family Law
Partner. Jenni has principally specialised
in Debt Recovery and Family law, obtaining a Specialist
Paralegal Family Law qualification in 2009. She aims to offer
a service to clients which is approachable, resourceful, respectful
and responsible.

Ainsleigh joined the firm in January 2010 after being employed at
